First, however, I would like to tell you that it is not always possible to contact eBay via email: usually it is possible to do this only to report technical problems relating to your account, such as difficulty in accessing it. In any case, let's see how to proceed.



For starters, log into the eBay home page and log into your account if you haven't already. Then presses on the link Help and contacts located at the top left and, on the page that opens, presses the blue button Contact us located at the bottom of the page (under the heading Do you need help?).

At this point, select the topic for which you intend to contact the eBay staff (eg. My Account) and select one of the available categories (eg. General, Account access o Troubleshoot account issues). To proceed, also in this case you must connect to the eBay home page, log in to your account (if necessary), click on the link Help and contacts placed at the top left and press the blue button Contact us located at the bottom of the page.

Then choose the topic for which you want to contact eBay customer service (eg. Buy) and select one of the available categories (eg. To start, Pay for items o After your purchase). Now, indicate the sub-category that corresponds to your problem (ex. Buy items o I want to withdraw an offer, etc.) and presses the button Contact us at the bottom, under the icon of the phone. You will also be provided with the expected waiting time and the time of availability of the service (which is available from Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:30).

On the page that opens, you will find the telephone number that you will need to dial to contact eBay (02 006 31 272) and the relative disposable code, that is a numeric code that can be used for only 15 minutes that will allow the operator who will assist you to identify you by offering you a better and faster service.


Once you have the code, all you have to do is dial the eBay number on the dialer of your mobile phone or on numeric keypad of your landline phone and enter the disposable code followed by the hash symbol (#). If you don't have the disposable code, type the symbol # to listen to the guide voice that will show you how to get it (it will give you practically the same information I gave you a moment ago). As soon as you can get in touch with an eBay customer care operator, make your request to get the assistance you need.


How to contact eBay via chat

Another contact option for reporting a problem to eBay is to speak to an operator via chat: this is a contact method available more or less for all cases in which telephone contact can also be used.

To contact eBay customer care via chat, connect to the main page of the auction site and log into your account (if you have not already done so). Then click on the link Help and contacts (located at the top left) and presses the blue button Contact us, At the bottom of the page. Then choose the topic for which you intend to chat with an eBay customer service operator (eg. Buy) and click on one of the available options (eg. To start, Pay for items o After your purchase).

At this point, choose a sub-category that corresponds to your problem (ex. Buy items o I want to withdraw an offer, etc.) and click on the button Chat with us located at the bottom, under the icon of two comics. As you can see, you will also be provided with the expected waiting time to chat with an operator and the service availability time (which is available from Monday to Sunday, from 09:00 to 20:00).


In the window that opens in the browser, briefly describe the problem, using the appropriate text field, and fill in the other text fields that may be available following the instructions you see on the screen. Finally, press the blue button Start the chat and wait for the first available operator to assist you.

How to contact eBay seller

If you need clarification regarding the sale of a specific asset, you can also avoid contacting the eBay service center, at least at first. What you can do, in fact, is try to contact the seller directly from which you made the purchase, expanding to the latter your doubts and / or your complaints relating to a possible disservice you encountered.


To contact an eBay user, simply click on the link Contact seller present on the purchase page of the goods you wish to buy or have already purchased and, after selecting a topic from the appropriate menu (eg. Details about the object, Return, etc.), presses the button Contact the seller down below.

On the page that opens, then, write the message you want to deliver to the seller by writing it in the text field Write something to [seller / shop name] using the 2000 characters you have available (you don't necessarily have to use them all). Finally, check the box Send a copy to my email address to self-send you a copy of the message, attach photos if necessary by pressing the appropriate button (for example to demonstrate that the purchased product shows signs of wear or defects not reported in the ad) and presses the button Send the message to forward it to the seller, who should get back to you within 24-72 hours.

Contact eBay from smartphones and tablets

As you may have noticed, the procedures I have indicated to you in the previous lines refer to the desktop version of the eBay site. If you want to try to contact the customer care of the famous online store from smartphones and tablets, you have to more or less follow the directions I gave you above. Clearly, using a smartphone or tablet, you will be able to use the mobile version of eBay which is a little different from the desktop one.

Therefore, connect to the eBay site from the browser on your device, scroll to the bottom of the page displayed and press the link Help and contacts placed at the bottom. On the page that opens, tap on the item Contact us and then choose the option that concerns the problem you want to solve (eg Buy). Then specify any categories and sub-categories that are proposed to you by tapping on the tabs that appear on the screen (eg. After your purchase> I want to cancel my purchase).

Now, you just have to select one of the contact options from those available: Chat with us, to contact eBay via chat; Call eBay, to contact the eBay support service; Send us an email, to contact support by e-mail or Contact the seller to solve the problem directly with the seller.
