Which SIM to use

As anticipated at the beginning of the post, before explaining how to proceed for insert the SIM into the tablet I want to show you the differences between the various types of cards available.

  • Mini-SIM (2FF) - is essentially the first SIM format that has been adopted for mobile telephony. It was widely used throughout the decade of the two thousand and partially in the two thousand and ten and has dimensions of 25 × 15 × 0.76 mm.
  • Micro-SIM (3FF) - is the SIM card format introduced starting from two thousand and ten. Its dimensions are equal to 15 × 12 × 0.76 mm.
  • Nano-SIM (4FF)- this is the currently most popular SIM format. It has very small dimensions, equal to 12.3 × 8.8 × 0.67 mm, and is used for almost all of the latest generation mobile devices.

Being able to understand which SIM "needs" the tablet in your possession is quite simple: just take a look at the information on the back of the sales package of the device, on the User Manual of the same or, even more trivially, doing a search on Google, typing keywords like SIM type [tablet name] and then consulting the various search results available.

Insert the SIM into the tablet

Let's now come to the real core of the matter and let's try, therefore, to understand, concretely, what needs to be done to be able to insert the SIM card in the tablet. The procedure to be put into practice may be slightly different depending on the brand (and model) of device in your possession. In any case, below you will find out how to proceed with the tablets of the most popular brands.

Samsung

If what you have is a tablet Samsung, in order to insert the SIM into the device, you must first worry about turning off the device: you can do this by pressing and continuing to hold down on the relevant On / off button, which depending on the tablet model can be placed on the right side o up, and then tapping the button Switch off that appears on the display.

Now, you need to locate theSIM slot present on the device. Again, depending on the model of your device, it may be on the right sideon that one left or on the top of the same. In all cases, it looks like a small drawer and is marked with the wording SIMs., so you should be able to recognize it easily.

Once found, move the relative plastic door by inserting something thin (eg a telephone card) in the appropriate groove and exerting a slight pressure first outwards and then upwards. Once the door is open, insert the SIM into it, pushing it until the slot locking mechanism is activated. To confirm the success of the operation, you should hear a "click" ".

Close, therefore, the door returning it to its original position and applying a slight pressure on it, then turn on the tablet to be able to start using it again. If you think you need more information on what to do, you can refer to the support and assistance section on the official Samsung website.

Huawei

And what about branded tablets Huawei? How should we proceed? Let's find out now! First, turn off the device by pressing and continuing to hold down on the appropriate On / off button, placed on the right side, and then selecting the option for it shutdown in the menu that appears on the screen.

Now, you need to locate theSIM slot. If your Huawei is of recent manufacture and has a metal case and / or edges, you should find the SIM slot on the right side. To open it, you must press lightly into the small hole on it using the special paper clip, usually attached to the sales package of the device (or in any case it is something thin and pointed).

Subsequently, extract the drawer with the help of your fingers, place your SIM card inside it by matching the edges with the drawn ones and reinsert the latter into the housing, pushing it gently until you hear a "click" which confirms it the joint.

Keep in mind that on some Huawei tablet models, instead of having the slot to be extracted as seen above, you may find the SIM slot covered by a flap that must be lifted sideways and not extracted. In this case, you will have to insert the card into the appropriate slot directly on the device, push it inside until you hear a “click” and close the flap returning it to its original position.

Once the SIM has been inserted into the tablet, you can turn it back on and resume using it as you did before. It was easy, wasn't it? If you need more information on what to do, you can refer to the section dedicated to support and assistance on the official Huawei website.

Only for the first iPad marketed by Apple the housing is placed below a left.

Identify, therefore, theSIM slot. On almost all of the Majestic tablets it is placed on the top (on the back) and to access it you must first move the relevant cover. To do this, just press lightly on it and slide the lid upwards.

Then, insert the card in the special compartment, push it inside and close the cover, bringing it to its original position. Once this is done, you can turn on the tablet and start using it again.

For more information about the steps above, you can refer to the manuals that you find on the official website of Majestic.

Adapt the SIM

Did you notice that the format of your SIM card is not the correct one for your tablet? Don't worry, you can easily cope with it by going to one of the stores of your telephone operator and ask the sales employee for the cultural, card format.

If you do not know which is the center of your operator closest to your home, you can consult the appropriate maps on the websites of the various operators, accessible through the following links: Find TIM stores, Find Vodafone stores, Find Wind stores and Find Tre stores .

Depending on the policies practiced by the manager, the transaction could have a cost included between 10 and 15 euros. As regards activation, the new SIM should become operational in a maximum period of 24 hours.

As an alternative to the procedure just described and, depending on the card format currently in your possession, you can also give yourself to DIY or buy a adapter.

In the first case, if you have a Mini-SIM or a Micro-SIM and you need a Nano-SIM, you can make the card compatible with your tablet by cutting it: an operation, this, apparently simple, but in reality a little complex, as the cut must be done in a very precise way and the risk of damaging the circuitry and therefore of making the card useless is quite high. That said, if you are interested in finding out how to proceed, I invite you to refer to my tutorial on how to cut SIM card, in which I have proceeded to tell you about it in great detail.

As for, however, the use of an adapter: it is a small plastic "contraption" that, once inserted into the SIM slot of the tablet, allows you to use smaller cards than those natively supported by the device. It is a fairly inexpensive product and can be purchased online (e.g. on Amazon) or in telephone and electronics stores. To find out more, I recommend that you read my guide on how to adapt SIM.
