How Amazon Music Unlimited Works

Prices

Unlike Amazon Prime Video and other solutions and services made available by the e-commerce giant, Amazon Music Unlimited - I already mentioned it at the beginning - it is not 100% included in the Prime subscription. In case you have never heard of it, Prime is an Amazon service that allows you to have free deliveries in one day on over 1 million products, offers the possibility to purchase products through the Amazon Dash Buttons, gives early access to offers lightning and much more. New customers can try it out free for 30 days and at the end of the trial period there is no obligation to renew. More info here.

Amazon Prime subscribers can only take advantage of a “light” version of Amazon Music Unlimited, called Amazon Prime Music, which gives you access to 2 million songs (instead of 50 million) with the download option active (only on portable devices) and no advertising interruptions.

In order to use Amazon Music Unlimited it is necessary to subscribe to a dedicated subscription which, however, it should be emphasized, for Prime members it is a little more advantageous. More precisely, the cost of the subscription single per service is equal to 9,99 euro / month or 99 euro / year (therefore 8,25 euros / month) for Amazon Prime subscribers. In both cases it is possible to use 30 days of free use of the service in such a way as to be able to thoroughly test all its features before deciding whether to continue using it even after the trial expires, thus opting for the monthly or annual subscription.

In addition to the single-user option, a subscription formula is also available for the whole family. To be exact, the piece of 14,99 euro / month or to that of 149 euro / year (i.e. just over 12 euros per month) for Prime members it is possible to activate up to a maximum of 6 family accounts, each of which is independent from the other in terms of song selection, preferences, etc.

If you have a good sound system and a very fast connection, you will be happy to know that it is included in the subscription Amazon Music HD, which allows you to play songs in high quality, with a far greater bitrate and sound fidelity than those of standard format streaming songs (even when set to the highest quality option). More info here.

Compatible devices and requirements

As for compatible devices, Amazon Music Unlimited can be used on computers and on various other platforms.

Specifically, from a computer it is accessible from all major web browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer and so on, on all the most popular operating systems. In addition to the Web, it is also possible to access the service from a computer using the specific applications made available for WindowsMacOS and for Linux.

On mobile devices, on the other hand, Amazon Music Unlimited can be used, through a special app, on Android, its iOS and on Fire tablet (it is available "as standard").

It is also possible to listen to songs of interest through Amazon Music Unlimited also through Sonos speakers, both by importing the songs and listening to them on-deman, and in auto, its BMW e Mini, managing everything through the Head Unit (just connect the device to the central console).

On the other hand, regarding the requirements relating to the Internet connection speed to be able to fully enjoy the service there is nothing specific. Basically an Internet connection stable and fairly fast (eg 900 Kbits / sec) should be more than enough.

Registration

Including the costs and becoming aware of the devices through which the service can be used, let's try to understand how Amazon Music Unlimited works in more detail.

As can be easily understood, in order to use the service it is necessary to have a Amazon account. If you haven't already created one, you can read my article on the subject to fix it immediately.

As for the subscription to Prime, as already reiterated, it confers some advantages in terms of prices but is still optional. So, if you have not yet signed up for Amazon Prime but still consider the advantages deriving from it interesting (I explained them to you in the previous lines, talking about prices), before activating your Amazon Music Unliminted follow the instructions in my dedicated tutorial to find out immediately how to do it. If, on the other hand, you already have an active Prime subscription, you can obviously go directly to reading the next paragraph.

Then go to the home of the service, click on the button Sign up, it's free for 30 days, log in to your account (if required), select the type of subscription which, once the trial period is over, will be activated by choosing between Individual subscription ed Family subscription and click on Sign up, it's free for 30 days. Pay later then click on the button Ascolta now.

How Amazon Music Unlimited Works

Keep in mind that if you are unable to complete the procedure, it is most likely because no payment method is associated with your account yet. You can remedy immediately by selecting the appropriate link at the top or by going first in the settings of your Amazon account (for more information on this you can always follow my guide on the subject that I have pointed out a few lines above). Don't worry… at the moment you won't have to pay anything, it only serves as a security system and for the payment of any subsequent renewals!

utilization

It's done! Now you can finally start using the service seriously! To confirm this, you should find yourself in front of the main Amazon Music Unlimited web interface. I'll show you immediately how it is composed!

How Amazon Music Unlimited Works

In the left sidebar you will find quick links to home, to the songs and to the recommended artists, To radio and to playlist. You will also find links for quick access to songs recently performed or added, To your music, including the one you bought on Amazon in the past and that was automatically set in digital format on the service thanks to AutoRip, the one you bought directly digitally through the appropriate store and the one you imported, and the followed playlists.

Then there is the link to create on the fly new playlists, the one to access the Amazon Music store, the one for import music (only works from a computer) and the menu to access the settings (the one with your name).

In the upper part you will find the search bar through which to quickly locate songs, artists, playlists and radio stations and the player with the relative commands to start the playback of the music tracks or stop it, go forwards or backwards among the various songs, start shuffle playback and repeat. There is obviously also the command to manage the volume and when a song is playing you will also be shown its title, the name of the artist and the duration of the same. Also during playback, you can view the player on full screen by clicking on its cover that you will see appear next to the search field.

In the center of the screen you will find the news of the moment, the artists more listened to, the radio and the playlist recommended and those recently added.

To start listening to a disc or a playlist, just click on its cover image and then click on the button Play which is high up. In this way the contents will be reproduced in the exact order in which they are found. If, on the other hand, you want to start random playback, you must first click on the appropriate button in the toolbar at the top.

In the specific case of playlists you can also choose to follow them in such a way as to always find them in the appropriate section attached to the left alteral bar, while the albums and individual songs can be added directly to your music by clicking on the item Add to Music present at the top or by clicking on the button with i three dots vertically which is shown to you by placing the cursor on the track or disc name. Always after clicking on the button with i three dots vertically you can perform further actions such as sharing the selected content, viewing related plays etc.

If, on the other hand, you want to play a single song or track on a disc or in a given playlist, simply click on its preview! Very convenient, right?

How Amazon Music Unlimited Works

Please note: I explained how to use Amazon Music Unlimited by referring to the web interface of the service. However, considering that the operation of the service on the other devices is good or bad the same (only the arrangement of the toolbars and the player changes) you should not find it difficult to use it even through the appropriate apps for computers and mobile devices.

Listening offline

We have already said that using the service on other devices is practically the same. The only change worth noting from the Web version of the service to the app for smartphones and tablets is the presence of the function to perform the download in locale of songs, albums and playlists so that you can listen to everything even in the absence of an Internet connection. How you do it? It's very simple, now I'll explain it to you.

Once the Amazon Music Unlimited app has been launched on your device, locate the disc or playlist you would like to download locally on the device, plug it in and then press the button with the down arrow that you find under the cover. By doing this, the songs in the playlist or album will be added to the download queue and downloaded little by little to your device. Once the download is complete, you will find everything in the section Music application.

How Amazon Music Unlimited Works

If you want, you can also download individual songs locally. To do this, locate the song you would like to be able to play offline in the Amazon Music Unlimited app, stop on the button with the three dots horizontallyand placed next to its title and choose the option Download from the menu you see appearing. Even in this case, after doing this the song will be added to the download queue and you can play it at any time always from the section Music application.

How Amazon Music Unlimited Works

Remember that in order to listen to the songs downloaded locally without using an Internet connection you must first go to the section Music of the app and enable, from the device settings which you can access by tapping the button with i three dots vertically Offline Music Mode.

Deactivation

Amazon Music Unlimited did not satisfy you and you have therefore decided to deactivate the payment of your subscription or do you want to prevent it from renewing automatically after the free trial period of the service? Then access the service via the Web, click on you don't know in the left toolbar, select Amazon Music Settings and, in the new Web page that will be shown to you at this point, click on the appropriate link that you find in correspondence with the wording Subscription renewal and confirm your wish to deactivate the service. Done!

How Amazon Music Unlimited Works

Keep in mind that, despite the deactivation, you will be able to continue to use Music Unlimited without any limitation until the expiration date for the subscription after which the subscription to the service will not be renewed and you will no longer be able to access it unless, obviously, by repeating all the steps for activation from scratch.
