Before explaining yourself in detail how the Amazon guarantee works, allow me to provide you with some preliminary information to better understand what I will show you in the next chapters of the tutorial.
First of all, I want to specify that every product sold on Amazon is accompanied by the legal guarantee on consumer goods, which covers so-called obvious lack of conformity within 24 months from the date of delivery of the goods (provided that the consumer makes a complaint within 2 months from the moment he discovered it).
Thanks to the legal guarantee, for example, it is possible to obtain a refund and / or replacement of the product in the event that it manifests malfunctions, in the event that it is not possible to use it in the manner declared by the seller and / or in the event that does not have the characteristics and qualities indicated by the seller.
In addition to the legal guarantee, which Amazon must obligatorily guarantee to consumers when acting as a seller, the purchased products can also be accompanied by other forms of guarantee. An example of this are the products that are part of the Electronics category, which are accompanied by the conventional warranty (also known as commercial guarantee), which is offered directly by the manufacturer, which specifies the conditions necessary for its application and its duration.
Clearly, since Amazon does not determine the conditions of application of the manufacturer's conventional guarantees, the e-commerce giant is not responsible for the fulfillment of the obligations included in the terms and conditions of the conventional guarantee that are formulated by third parties.
Furthermore, in order to exercise your warranty rights on the products you buy on Amazon, I recommend that you keep a copy of the purchase receipt of the latter, so as to avoid running into any problems.
With regard to goods produced and sold by Amazon, Jeff Bezos' company can provide its own conventional / commercial guarantee: as is the case for Amazon Basic products and Kindle devices, which I will tell you about in detail in the following chapters.
I would also like to remind you that regardless of the integrity and correct functioning of a purchased product, usually Amazon allows you to carry out the returns up to 30 days from the date of delivery, as explained in a dedicated chapter of this guide.
So far all clear? Well, then I would say that we can go ahead and investigate the subject.
Amazon Basics Guarantee
In case of purchasing a product Amazon Basics, therefore made and sold by Amazon, it is also possible to take advantage of the conventional / commercial guarantee by the e-commerce giant. The guarantee in question allows you to receive a refund in the event that defects appear under normal conditions of use by the consumer, starting from from the moment of delivery and for the following 12 months.
If the purchased product is a consumable item (e.g. a printer cartridge), Amazon's conventional warranty lapses when the consumable component of the product (in this example, the ink) is used in full or in part.
In the event that the product presents some operating defects, the consumer has the right to have it replaced with an equal or equivalent one, to have it repaired or to a partial / total refund of the original purchase price.
As you can well imagine, the limited Amazon conventional warranty does not apply in the case of natural wear / deterioration of the product as a result of its use or in the event of accidents or improper / negligent use of the same.
If you think you have the right to take advantage of Amazon's conventional warranty for a good produced and sold by the latter, all you have to do is contact Customer Service using one of the available channels and provide all the information that will be requested of you.
If you would like further clarification regarding the warranty for Amazon Basics products, I suggest you take a look at this PDF document, which can be found on the Amazon website.
Amazon Kindle Warranty
Regarding the devices Kindle (like Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, etc.), Amazon guarantees one year limited warranty starting from the date of purchase, if problems arise related to defects in the materials of which they are composed and / or problems concerning their ordinary functioning.
Based on the defect affecting the Kindle device during the period in which it is under warranty, Amazon may decide to replace it with a working one, repair it using new or refurbished components, or refund all or part of the original purchase price of the good itself.
The limited warranty applies to any repair, part replacement or replacement of the device, for the remainder of the original warranty period, or for 90 days, whichever is longer. Of course, to take advantage of the limited warranty provided for Amazon Kindle products, you must not have caused damage to your device through an accidental event, improper and / or negligent use of the same.
I also remind you that if you have purchased the device as a consumer, you can take advantage of the legal guarantee, which covers conformity defects that occur within 24 months from the date of delivery of the product and which must be reported within 2 months of their discovery. More info here.
To take advantage of the warranty that Amazon offers for Kindle products, you must contact the Customer Service of the service using one of the support channels available and provide all the information that will be requested from you. For further clarification regarding the warranty regarding Kindle products, I suggest you take a look at this page on the Amazon website.
Request a return on Amazon
If you wish ask for a return on Amazon, know that the policy adopted by the e-commerce giant offers the possibility of returning purchased items, without having to specify the reason, up to 30 days from their delivery date. If the return of the product occurs within 14 days from the date of delivery of the same, the shipping costs are borne by Amazon, otherwise they are borne by the consumer. As for the procedure to follow to obtain the return, this method is based on the type of product purchased, as indicated below.
- Returns for items shipped by Amazon - to request a return, go to the Amazon Online Returns Center, select the item you wish to return, justify your request by specifying the reason why you intend to return the item (e.g. the product is defective, you have had second thoughts, etc. ), specify a return method among those available and get thereturn label, which you will then have to print and apply on the package to be sent to Amazon.
- Return for Marketplace items (third party sellers) - in this case, you can return the item directly to the seller from whom you purchased the product, who will be required to comply with the return policies in accordance with those applied by Amazon. To find out about the specific return policy that is applied by the seller, I suggest you visit the relevant detail page that is present on the latter's profile.
As for the reimbursements, however, know that their disbursement takes place through the same payment method that you used for the purchase or through gods Amazon vouchers. Sometimes, you can even get the immediate refund via Amazon voucher. In this case, it is not necessary to wait for the delivery of the item to Amazon to obtain a refund but, of course, the item being returned must be returned within 30 days from the date of delivery of the refund, otherwise the sum is returned to Amazon again. It is advisable to return the products in the same condition in which they were delivered.
Please also note that in some cases, it may not be possible to obtain the return on Amazon, as some categories of products (especially perishable ones) do not fall within it.
