First of all, it might be useful to know that the IO app, available for Android and iPhone / iPad devices, allows you to interact with various services of the Public Administration (e.g. the payment of car tax or the holiday bonus) and, above all, of participate in the State cashback.
The latter is a government initiative that allows all citizens to obtain a refund of 10% up to a maximum of 300 euros / year (150 euros / semester) on purchases made with cards and electronic systems in physical stores (therefore not online), provided that at least 50 traceable payments are made per semester (however, it turns out suspended after the first semester, at the end of June 2021). In order to participate and obtain any accumulated refund, it is first necessary to carry out some operations.
- Download the IO app on your device;
- Log in via SPID (Public Digital Identity System) or CIE (Electronic Identity Card);
- Activate the State Cashback from the section Our customers;
- Communicate your own IBAN;
- Add i payment methods (e.g. credit / debit cards, prepaid cards, etc.) used to carry out transactions in physical stores.
As for the IBAN, it can be added during the activation of the Cashback or at a later time, as long as it is done within the current semester. In both cases, the person communicating the IBAN must be the current account holder. However, I point out that two Cashback participants can communicate it same IBAN code if they are joint account holders. Also, you might find it useful to know that you are also allowed to enter the IBAN code associated with a prepaid card.
Finally, you must know that some electronic payment services (eg. Satispay ed Enel X-Pay), allow you to register for the State Cashback directly from your application (therefore without necessarily using the IO app) and to obtain credit for any refund on the IBAN associated with your account. In this case, if the IO app is also used, the IBAN in question will be automatically added to the section Our customers of the app in question. Is everything clear so far? How to enter IBAN on the IO app for Cashback
As mentioned in the opening lines of this guide, it is possible enter IBAN on the IO app for Cashback both when registering the program in question and at a later time. How to do? I'll explain it to you right away!
How to enter IBAN on IO app during registration
If you haven't activated State Cashback yet, you need to know that you can enter IBAN on app IO during registration. To do this, start the app in question on your device and tap on the option of your interest between Sign in with SPID, to log in with your digital identity, e Log in with CIE, if you want to log in with your electronic identity card.
Then press the button Continue and, if your device allows it, follow the instructions provided on the screen Biometric authentication, to activate access via facial recognition or fingerprint (option that you can subsequently deactivate by accessing the sections Profile e Pref Renze of the IO app).
Adesso, select the option Our customers located in the menu at the bottom, click on the item Cashback (twice in a row) and tap the button Activate Cashback. In the new screen that appears, put the check marks necessary to complete the activation of the Status Cashback and press the button I declare.
At this point, in the screen IBAN for accreditation, enter the IBAN of the account on which you intend to receive any accumulated Cashback and press the button Continue. Alternatively, if you prefer enter IBAN on the IO app after registration, fai tap sull'opzione Salta.
In both cases, for the activation procedure of the State Cashback to be successful, click on the item Add a method, choose one of the available options from Credit, debit or prepaid card, BancoPosta or PostePay card, PagoBANCOMAT card e Digital payment apps and tools and enter the data in the appropriate fields. Finally, tap the buttons Continue e Save, to activate Cashback for the selected payment method.

How to enter IBAN on the IO app at a later time
If you are wondering how to enter IBAN on the IO app at a later time since you did not add it when activating the Cashback, all you have to do is access the section Our customers of the IO app and click on the option to add the data of the account on which you intend to receive any accumulated Cashback.
Although there is no time limit within which to communicate the IBAN, it is necessary to add it on the IO app by the end of the reference period (30nd June o 31th December of the current year) in such a way as to allow the accumulated reimbursement to be credited.
To communicate the IBAN, start the IO app on your device and press on the option of your interest between Sign in with SPID ed Log in with CIE, to log in, respectively, via SPID or electronic identity card. Then press on the item Our customers and, in the new screen displayed, tap on the option Cashback relating to the current period. Then locate the section IBAN for accreditation e fai tap sul pulsating IBAN Tax.
At this point, in the screen IBAN for accreditation, enter your IBAN in the appropriate field and press the button Save, to save the changes. Simple, right?
How to change IBAN on the IO app

In this case, you should know that you can change your IBAN at any time as long as you do so by the end of the reference period (30nd June o 31th December of the current year), in such a way as to allow the crediting of any accumulated reimbursement. This means that it is not possible to change the IBAN for a program period that has already ended.
To proceed, take your smartphone, start the IO app and authenticate via SPID or CIE. Then click on the option Our customers located in the bottom menu and tap on the tab Cashback relating to the current period.
In the new screen that appears, tap on the item Modification relative all'opzione IBAN for accreditation, delete the code for the bank account you linked earlier and enter the new one IBAN in the appropriate field. Then press the button Save And that's it.
In case of problems
If you have followed the instructions I have given you in the previous paragraphs in detail but are experiencing problems that prevent you from adding your IBAN and obtaining the accumulated Cashback, I recommend that you send a report to team of IO. The assistance service is active from Monday to Friday from 08.00 to 20.00, while on Saturdays, Sundays and all public holidays it is available from 08.00 to 13.00
To contact the IO team and request assistance, start the app in question and authenticate via SPID or CIE. Once this is done, in the screenshot Messages, award-winning ?, at the top right, locate the section Do you need help? and tap on the item Write to the IO team.
In the new screen that appears, put the check mark next to the option Share your tax code, in order to make it easier to solve the problem, and press the button Continue. Then select the options Cashback e IBAN, insertion il tuo email address in the appropriate field and type your message in the field Ask us something.
If you wish, you can also attach a screenshot of the screen where you encountered the problem. To do this, select the item Add attachments and choose the option of your interest.
- Make a screen recording: Allows you to make a real-time screen recording of the device. After selecting the option in question, go to the screen where you are having problems and tap on the icon video camera, to start recording. Then show the procedure that is giving you problems and, when you deem it appropriate, click on the icon square to stop recording and attach the video to your message.
- Take a picture from the screen: it is an option very similar to the previous one. In this case, go to the "problem" screen and tap on the icon camera, to make a screenshot of the screen in question.
- Select a file from the gallery: This option allows you to attach a screenshot you made earlier, by selecting it from your phone's gallery.
At this point, all you have to do is press the icon of thepaper airplane, at the top right, to send your report. As soon as the IO team replies to your message, you will be able to view the reply by accessing the section Messages of the app in question.How to enter IBAN on the IO app
