How to know if a number is TIM

The simplest method for know if a number is TIM is to contact the specific online service set up by the operator. Using it is really a breeze: type the number to identify in the text field next to the item Enter the number, copy the confirmation code displayed in the black box inside the field Enter the code on the side and click on the button VERIFICATION located at the bottom right.

In a few moments, you will receive the result of the check. If the number you submitted to the service belongs to the TIM mobile network, the message will appear The line [telephone number] is TIM. If, on the other hand, the number checked on the site does not belong to the TIM network, the message will be displayed The line [telephone number] is not TIM. Easy, right?

It should be emphasized that the online service for the verification of TIM numbers works the same way both from a computer and from a smartphone and tablet: just connect to its home page and follow the instructions provided above. It does not allow you to identify landline numbers.

How to know if a number is TIM from the phone

How to know if a number is TIM

If you think the online procedure is a bit too long, you can find out if a number belongs to the TIM network also through a telephone service officially offered by the well-known cittàn operator. In this case, all you have to do is call the phone number you want to identify from your mobile or landline by prefixing it with the prefix. 456.

For example, if the number you want to identify is 123456789, you have to call the number 456123456789: an automatic service will answer you and immediately tell you if the number called belongs to the network TIM or not.

The service also allows you to identify landline numbers, but only if used by landlines. It's free and can be used anytime: 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. It also works from non-TIM lines, but in this it is possible to know only if the number dialed belongs to the operator from which you are calling (eg Wind, Vodafone or Iliad) and not if it belongs to the TIM network.

For more information on how to find out which operator a number is, you can rely on the guide I have dedicated to the topic.

Other solutions to find out if a number is TIM

The solutions that I have indicated to you in the previous chapters of the tutorial are the most reliable, however there are also other tools that can help in identifying a TIM number: let me illustrate them in detail.

Truecaller

How to know if a number is TIM

Truecaller is a very famous app for Android and iOS that allows you to identify, and possibly block, the numbers of "known annoyances", ie call centers, telemarketers and even scammers. It works thanks to a constantly updated database, also built thanks to user reports. You can download and use it for free, but on one condition: that of sharing your number in a public database accessible directly from the app or from the official website of Truecaller: it is thanks to this database, in fact, that it is possible to find cell phone numbers of other people and find out if they are part of the TIM network.

If you agree to this privacy compromise, open your smartphone store (Play Store if you use an Android or App Store if you are using an iPhone), search Truecaller within the latter and proceed with the download of the app, selecting it from the search results and then pressing the button Ottieni / Installa. If you are using an iPhone, you may be asked to use Face ID, Touch ID, or enter your Apple ID password to authorize the app installation.

Once installation is complete, start the Truecaller app and enter yours cellphone number in the appropriate text field to start creating your free account. Then type the verification code which is delivered to you via SMS and fill out the registration form you see on the screen with the requested data (name and surname, email address is optional).

Next, launch Truecaller and follow the wizard to create your account. Then type your phone number in the appropriate text field, press the Start button, answer Yes to the warning that appears on the screen and type the verification code that is sent to you via SMS.

Once the number has been verified, fill out the registration form that is proposed to you by entering your name and surname in the appropriate fields (the email address is optional, leave the field blank). Then make sure the item Who can have my contacts is set to Requests only and complete the initial configuration procedure of the app denying it, if you can, access to the address book (in this way you will avoid delivering your contacts to Truecaller, but on the iPhone you will not be able to block calls automatically).

Now you just have to select the tab Home of Truecaller and enter the mobile number to be identified in the bar located at the top. Once the search has started, if the number is present in the service database, you can find out the owner and reference operator by simply selecting it.

Please note: if you decide not to use Truecaller anymore, before uninstalling the app, try to deactivate your account from the menu More> Info> Deactivate account of the latter and request the removal of your number from the public database of the service by connecting to this web page.

UnknowPhone

How to know if a number is TIM

If you are receiving calls from a number you do not know and, before answering them, you would like to trace the identity of the holder, you can try the aforementioned Truecaller or UnkwnowPhone, a site where users exchange their experiences to trace the identity of salespeople, call centers and other "nuisances" from whom one can be contacted by telephone.

It does not require registration and is very easy to use: after connecting to its home page, all you have to do is type the number you would like to identify in the bar Search phone ... and press the button Submit on the keyboard.

If the number you searched for is present in the service database, you will be able to view user comments about it. If you are lucky, in the comments you will find the name of the holder and / or the reference operator (eg if it is a TIM call center). Convenient, right?

Area code

How to know if a number is TIM

If none of the solutions listed above helped you, you might want to try analyzing the prefix of the number you wish to identify and check if this is part of the TIM numbers. But I warn you: this is an unreliable solution, as the changes of operators with number portability (therefore with the maintenance of your number) are within everyone's reach and, consequently, a numbering that originally belonged to the network TIM may now be under the network of another operator.

Having made this necessary premise, here is the list of mobile line prefixes that belong to TIM: 330, 331, 333, 334, 335, 336, 337, 338, 339, 360, 361, 362, 363, 366, 368 e 385.

If the number you wish to identify begins with one of the prefixes just mentioned, there is a fair chance that it belongs to the TIM network. It has certainly been TIM in the past; now, following possible operator changes made through number portability, it may belong to another network.
