- Rave (Android/iOS/iPadOS)
- SimulWatch (Android/iOS/iPadOS)
- More apps to watch movies together
The first among the app to watch movies together which I recommend you try is Disney +. This is the application for Android and iOS / iPadOS of the well-known Disney video streaming service, which gives access to all the Disney and Pixar classics, Marvel content, Star Wars, FOX and National Geographic documentaries. It costs 6,99 euros / month or 69,99 euros / year. I have chosen to tell you about it in this guide as, perhaps not everyone knows, it also offers the function GroupWatch, which allows you to watch video content on the platform with your friends, up to a maximum of 6 and each with their own subscription, via the Internet.
To download Disney + to your device if you are using Android visit the relevant section of the Play Store and press the button Install (if you are using a device on which the Play Store is not available, you can download the app through an alternative store). Instead, if you are using iOS / iPadOS access the relevant section of the App Store, press the button Get, quindi quello Install and authorize the download via Face ID, touch ID o password dell'ID Apple.
Next, launch the Disney + app by selecting the iwhat for appeared on the home screen, then create an account and subscribe, following the instructions I gave you in my guide on the subject. If you are already registered, however, you can log in directly by providing your login data.
Afterwards, choose the movie to watch from the section Home of the application or by performing a direct search, after tapping on the icon in the shape of magnifying glass which is located at the bottom, then typing the keyword of your interest in the appropriate field and choosing the relevant result.
Once the screen with the movie profile is displayed, tap on the icon with the three men that you find under the title, press the button Invite and send the invitation to the friends you want to share the movie with. Once the invitation is received, your friends will have to visit the link attached to it and tap the button Streaming begins to start watching the film all together. There is no real-time chat while watching, but emojis can be sent.
Among the best app to watch movies together from a distance also fully falls Rave. It is a free solution available both for Android (also on alternative stores) and for iOS / iPadOS, which allows you to play audio and video content and watch them with friends. It supports Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Vimeo, Reddit and also allows you to play your own content uploaded to Dropbox and Google Drive.
To use it, download and start Rave, follow the short introductory tutorial that is proposed to you and log in with your Facebook, Twitter or Google account, touching the corresponding button that you see on the screen and providing the requested data.
Once logged in, grant the app the permissions related to location and microphone that are requested by the app, then press the button capacitor positive (+) lead, to start creating your viewing room. Then select the video streaming service you prefer (in case of paid services it is necessary that all participants have an active subscription on the chosen service to watch the film together), log in with your account (if required), choose the film to watch and tap the button to start playing it.
In the new screen that is proposed to you, define the privacy level of the room by tapping on the icon in the shape of ruota d'ingranaggio, then on arrow next to the wording Privacy from the menu that appears and selecting the option you prefer. Personally, I suggest you choose the option Friends only (to allow access only to your friends on Rave) or that Invite only (to allow access to the room only to those who have the relative link).
If this may interest you, I also point out that from the menu visible after selecting the icon with the ruota d'ingranaggio you can also adjust other settings related to playback and sharing of content on Rave, such as the ability to choose who to allow to select the films to see.
Then, select one of the services available in the menu in the center to invite your friends to watch the movie with you on Rave. Your friends can then join the movie by downloading Rave on their device, logging in to the service and accepting the invitation received. When all participants are ready for viewing, just press the button Play on the player to start playing the movie.
While watching it is also possible to comment on the film or otherwise chat with friends using the chat service included in Rave. To do this, just type the texts in the field Chat at the bottom and then press the button Submit on the keyboard. You can also make voice comments by pressing the icon with the microphone located on the left.
Another great app for watching movies together is SimulWatch. It is available for both Android and iOS / iPadOS and allows you to create groups to comment on movies on Infinity, RaiPlay, NOW TV and many other services with other users while watching them. It should be noted that it does not offer the possibility of directly playing streaming contents. It is available for both Android (also on alternative stores) and for iOS / iPadOS.
To use it, download and start it, then follow the short introductory tutorial that is proposed to you, tap the button Log in, quindi quello Subscribe and create your account to use the service by filling out the form proposed with the requested data (name, last name, email address e Password). Alternatively, you can decide to log in with the account Google or with that Facebookby pressing the appropriate buttons.

Once the search results screen appears, select the tab Videos and the name of the film you are interested in, then touch the icon with thelittle man at the top right, so as to create your vision group and define its visibility, choosing the option you prefer among Public e Private (in this second case, also enter your phone number in the appropriate field, press the button Subscribe and verify your identity using the code that will be sent to you by SMS).
At this point, grant the app the necessary permissions to access your contacts, select the friends you want to invite to the group and, in the new proposed screen, define the date and time for viewing the chosen film. Finally, click on the button Create group, type the name of the group in the field provided and tap on the wording Conclude.
After completing all the steps, on the day and at the defined time, you will have to start, together with your friends, the playback of the film on the platform on which it is available and open the SimulWatch app to be able to comment on it in real time with other users. of the group.
